My story

Hi, my name is Laurianne and I am from France. I have been living in Scotland for 15 years now (mainly in Glasgow) and moved to a lovely village outside Glasgow nearly 4 years ago.

My recent move to the countryside is part of a desire to get back to basic and grow a more simple and self-sufficient lifestyle. Food is a crucial part of this lifestyle.

I have always known how important it is to know where your food comes from. I grew up in the countryside in France and my grandparents were farmers (all 4 of them!).  Food has always been a big part of my life and my family’s life. I have always loved baking and eating cakes but in the last few years I have been more aware of what I eat and the way I feed my body. Making raw vegan desserts gives me the opportunity to still enjoy my desserts without having to compromise my health. 

I have been making vegan and raw desserts for a few years now. In 2013 I decided to start a blog (100daysofvegancakes) to share some of my photographs (I love photography) and recipes. I started creating more and more recipes in order to come up with new posts for the blog. I always found that creating raw desserts was easier and eventually decided to concentrate on raw recipes only.

Since I started my blog a few years ago, I grew in confidence and developed a real love for the raw diet. I have also been finalist of the Great Vegan Bake Off twice  (2014 & 2015) and started Laurianne's Raw Cakes in 2015.

In 2019, I launched a new business called Laurianne's Vegan Kitchen. I now offer a fully plant-based catering service focusing on nourishing, seasonal and tasty vegan food. For more information you can check my website -

All my products are raw and free from gluten, dairy, egg and refined sugar.

My raw desserts and snacks are made blending together nuts, seeds, dates, fruits, veggies, spices etc. there is no baking involved. In order to create the very smooth and creamy texture of my cakes, I use a powerful food processor (blender) and soak nuts for a long period of time.

My products only contain plant-based ingredients and are a great source of essential nutrients such as proteins, fibers, vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids.

I use organic ingredients as much as possible and source most of my products from the Green City Coop in Glasgow.

I try to keep the ingredients I use simple and try not to use too many different ingredients when creating a new cake, tart or bite. I believe that natural quality ingredients are better than quantity. All my ingredients are natural, tasty and of good quality, therefore I don’t need a lot of them to create a great dessert.

The raw diet has been around for a while now and is getting more and more popular. Heating food destroys nutrients and natural enzymes. By eating raw you will improve your digestive system, assimilate the food you eat more easily and help your body fight disease by eating a lot of goodness at its best.

I am not a scientist and not a nutritionist but I do enjoy cakes and know a good cake when I eat one!
